He has demonstrated success as a Carrier employee, where he was both well-liked and respected. I look forward to working with him, as do all other IST employees who have met with him. I encouraged him to do his due diligence about IST and its monitoring system, and he took me at my word. Only after contacting many contractors he has met on Carrier’s behalf, all of whom enthusiastically endorsed our products, did he say ‘yes’ to my offer. That enables me to respect his degree of commitment even more. No special software is required to view the data. 1/10/2005: Invisible Service Technicians' New IST Monitor Selected from among Thousands of Products to Be Displayed at HVAC Industry Expo as Most Innovative in Building Automation Category The Invisible Service Technician (IST) Monitor, a new remote monitoring and diagnostic device for light commercial and residential heating, cooling and refrigeration systems, has been named the winner of the 2005 AHR Expo award for innovation in building automation. The award, announced in late November and judged by a panel of practicing HVAC&R engineers, recognizes the IST Monitor’s promise to transform heating, cooling and refrigeration system service for a new cross-section of customers. In the past, only large scale commercial and industrial customers could afford remote monitoring systems. The IST Monitor makes it affordable for a much broader market — from commercial building and retail business owners to residential rental property managers to homeowners. The IST Monitor is one of the first solutions to provide all of the key operating data that a contractor requires to detect and diagnose developing problems before they cause a failure in the customer’s equipment. It consists of a monitor with ten sensors and six open sensor inputs, mounted on a customer’s heating, cooling or refrigeration equipment and connected to their phone line. The system monitors multiple operating parameters and immediately notifies the IST Data Center if a problem is detected. The online data center, in turn, alerts the servicing contractor and provides him or her with enough operating data to diagnose the developing problem without having to visit the customer's site. There are benefits for contractors, for facility and property owners and managers, for builders, and for homeowners. For contractors: The IST Monitor locks in existing customers because it offers the contractor the opportunity to detect equipment problems and to contact their customers before they call a competitor. It helps attract new, increasingly service-oriented customers. It adds not only income from the sale of the system, which has been kept low so that it is affordable to customers, but also from the continuing service agreements the IST Monitor virtually guarantees through its implementation. Additionally, it greatly increases the efficiency of the service technician because he or she already knows what the problem is before being dispatched to do the repair, which saves the contractor money and allows him or her to maintain and expand the customer base efficiently. For facility and property owners and managers: The IST Monitor allows owners and managers to focus on their business, not their heating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. The system helps maintain constant comfort for customers, tenants and employees by continuously monitoring and facilitating the correction of any problems before an equipment failure occurs. It saves money in utility bills and repair costs, prevents inventory spoilage, property damage, and extends the life of HVAC&R equipment. For builders: The IST monitor is the latest in comfort control technology. Builders can impress prospective buyers with the comfort protection, lower utility bills, reduced maintenance and service hassles and increased peace of mind associated with the implementation of the IST Monitor in their home or business. It can also help builders answer the number one complaint of new homeowners – trouble with heating or cooling their homes to their taste. It can help resolve problems quickly and identify any sizing or installation problems, holding the HVAC&R contractor accountable. For restaurant managers: The IST Monitor ensures that a manager’s worst nightmare will never occur – that his or her refrigeration equipment breaks down, causing the inventory to spoil, and/or the breakdown of the heating and cooling equipment which would drive away customers. For homeowners: The IST Monitor provides cost savings, extended equipment life, protection from property damage, and the intangible peace of mind that comes from knowing their HVAC equipment – an integral part of their quality of life – is continuously monitored and safeguarded. The award-winning IST monitor will be on display at the 2005 International Builders' Show, Booth #9830, January 13-16 at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Florida. |
