Frequently Asked Questions How does the IST Monitor save me money? How much?

What are some common alerts?

Air Filter Replacement/Cleansing — Most people make the common mistake of irregularly changing the air filter. The IST Monitor alerts you and the contractor when it is appropriate to change/clean the air filter, thereby increasing the air quality of your home and preventing your air conditioning coils from freezing due to restricted air flow.

Heat Failure — Frozen water pipes can cause serious damage to your drywall, carpet, electronics etc. The IST Monitor alerts you and your contractor when the heating element of your HVAC system is in danger of failing, allowing sufficient time to address and correct the problem before serious damage can occur.

Why should I purchase the IST Monitor if my HVAC is under warranty and already serviced twice a year?

The manufacturer’s warranty together with your contractor’s regularly scheduled tune-ups would seem to be enough. However, neither the warranty nor the tune-up can protect your system from failure and keep it from causing property damage. The warranty and the tune-up can not make certain your UV light continues operating or that your filter remains unclogged. Only the IST Monitor can extend the life of your HVAC system and ensure that it operates at peak performance.

Warranties only address a problem after it occurs. The IST Monitor can prevent it from occurring. Your contractor can offer you the unprecedented promise that you will always have heat and air conditioning because he can take action before the problem is critical enough to cause equipment breakdown.

Who has access to the data that my IST Monitor collects?

Invisible Service Technicians, LLC believes in your right to privacy. Your personal information will not be shared with any marketing or recruiting companies. As standard practice, your HVAC performance data will be reviewed only by the IST Data Center and your designated/installing HVAC contractor.

Performance data may also be shared with the manufacturer of your HVAC system and used to help improve their product. These manufacturers specify the performance parameters that the Invisible Service Technician monitors in your HVAC equipment.

How does the IST Monitor save me money? How much?

Invisible Service Technicians, LLC believes in your right to privacy. Your personal information will not be shared with any marketing or recruiting companies. If the monitor is connected through my phone line, does it interfere with my phone calls, call waiting or Internet dial-up?

No. Phone calls are never interrupted. If there is any activity on the phone line, the IST Monitor can detect such activity and will retry the call 3 times every 5 minutes until the line is free and the call is completed.

How long does the call take? Who pays for it?

Each call takes only a few seconds and is made to a toll-free number that is pre-programmed into the monitor. Invisible Service Technicians, LLC pays for the call.

How is the IST Monitor powered? What happens during a power failure?

The IST Monitor is tied into the 24V power circuit of your HVAC system. It requires a working phone line to transmit performance data. In the event of a power outage, the IST Monitor will not lose any data and will send a report of the power interruption to the IST Data Center as soon as power is restored.

Does the IST Monitor require any maintenance?

No. The IST Monitor and its sensors do not require any routine or periodic maintenance. In addition to its everyday functions, the IST Monitor will alert your contractor to any problems with regard to its own operation.

Is there a warranty?

Invisible Service Technicians, LLC offers a free 1-year warranty for failure of the monitor during normal use. This warranty covers any parts required to repair the IST Monitor and the required labor.

Can I take my IST monitor with me when I buy a new home?

Yes! Just call your contractor and have them remove the monitoring system* and notify Invisible Service Technicians, LLC. When the monitor is ready to be placed at its new location, contact us and we will have a certified contractor install the IST Monitor in the new location. The contractor will notify us of the new address and we will continue your monitoring services. If you need help finding a new HVAC contractor, e-mail Invisible Service Technicians and will be happy to assist you.

*Removal attempts by untrained persons are dangerous and could severely damage the IST Monitor. The warranty becomes void in the event of such an attempt.
